In today's society, where more and more people are investing in their own health, searching for improved quality of life and exploring holistic approaches to health, chiropractic care has become significant. Chiropractic is based on the fact that the brain and nervous system work together to convey important information necessary for the body's proper function and harmony. This information is transported from the brain to all parts of the body through the nervous system, which consists of the brain, vertebrae, spinal cord and spinal nerves. The nervous system acts as the body's communication network, so it is crucial that the vertebrae are correctly aligned for effective communication. Even a slight misalignment can lead to inflammation, which can disrupt the body's functions. Chiropractors perform manual adjustments to correct vertebral misalignments, relieve pressure or interference on the nerves and facilitate unobstructed communication between the brain and organs, promoting overall health through a well-functioning spine.

Chiropractic has been practiced extensively in different regions and among different populations around the world. The term "Chiropractic" has Greek origins and means "practical hands." Today, chiropractic is a sought-after and well-known type of treatment. The theory and method of chiropractic was developed by David Daniel Palmer, a Canadian living in the United States, who started this work in 1895. This approach claims that many health problems are rooted in neurological disorders in the central and peripheral nervous system. Using musculoskeletal adjustments, particularly focusing on the spine, in addition to supportive techniques, chiropractic aims to correct a range of health challenges.

What does the chiropractor do?

Chiropractors recognize that various factors affect physical wellbeing, including exercise, brain health, diet, rest, environment and heredity. We offer natural, drug-free and non-surgical treatments that build on the body's inherent ability to improve. Chiropractors can also suggest lifestyle changes, such as adjustments to diet, exercise routines and sleep patterns. In appropriate cases, they collaborate with and refer patients to other medical professionals, such as physiotherapy or specialized doctors. Like other healthcare professionals, chiropractors follow a specific procedure to obtain the necessary information for diagnosis and treatment. This involves, among other things:

  1. Reviewing the patient's medical history, conducting physical, neurological and orthopedic examinations, as well as ordering relevant laboratory tests such as blood tests and X-rays to assess spinal and general health.
  2. Chiropractors use posture and spinal analysis as part of the diagnostic process. When problems can be traced back to the musculoskeletal system, chiropractors manually adjust the spine.
  3. Some may also include additional treatments such as cold therapy, light therapy, massage, shock or pressure wave therapy, electrical stimulation and acupuncture.
  4. Some chiropractors may also use support measures such as straps, tapes and supports. While they advise patients on wellness aspects such as nutrition, exercise, lifestyle adjustments and stress management, chiropractors do not prescribe medication or perform surgical procedures.
